Orthopedic Surgery & Sports Medicine in Ennis, Texas

Sunnyvale Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Center now treats patients at a full orthopedic clinic in Ennis, Texas. Dr. John Hibbitts, M.D. and Dr. Reed Bartz, M.D. both see patients at this office, which means board-certified orthopedic surgeons are available in town without a long drive.

Visiting Our Ennis Orthopedic Office

Our orthopedic office is at 2203 Lampasas Street, Suite 106, a short drive from both the I-45 and US-287 corridors that run through Ennis, TX.

Finding us

Look for Suite 106

The building is a multi-tenant medical plaza, and several unrelated clinics share the same address, so watch for Suite 106 and our name on the suite door rather than following the building sign.

Parking & access

Free parking at the entrance

Parking is free and sits directly in front of the entrance. The walk from a standard parking space to our door is short and flat, which matters if you are arriving on crutches, in a brace, or with a walker.

If you need help getting inside, call us from your car and someone will meet you.

First visit

Bring five things to your first visit

Bring five things to your first visit: a photo ID, your insurance card, any imaging or records related to your problem (X-rays, MRI discs, prior surgical reports), a written list of your current medications, and your completed new patient paperwork.

Bringing outside imaging on a disc lets your orthopedic doctor compare old scans to new ones and often prevents a repeat study.

Plan for roughly 45 to 60 minutes at your first appointment.

Follow-up visits are usually much shorter.

Ennis Office Days and Hours

Our Ennis office is open Monday through Thursday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and Friday from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. We are closed Saturday and Sunday. The last appointment slot each day is scheduled before closing, so calling early in the day gives you the most options.

Monday – Thursday8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Friday8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Saturday – SundayClosed

Appointments only. We do not offer walk-in hours here, and this office is not an orthopedic urgent care. Every patient needs a scheduled appointment.

If you need to be seen sooner or outside these hours, our Sunnyvale office accepts walk-in patients Monday through Friday from 8:00 to 11:00 AM. Call (469) 935-6055 and our staff will tell you which option gets you seen faster.

Which Surgeons See Patients in Ennis, Texas

Two orthopedic surgeons hold clinic at this location. Both are board-certified and fellowship-trained, and both see patients here regularly rather than rotating through occasionally.

Dr. John Hibbitts, M.D.

Founder · Texas board-certified · Fellowship-trained in sports medicine

Hip & knee joint replacement

Dr. John Hibbitts, M.D. founded the practice in 2021 and brings more than 30 years of experience to it. He is a Texas board-certified orthopedic surgeon, fellowship-trained in sports medicine, and the center of his practice today is hip and knee joint replacement, including outpatient procedures. Patients who have been told they need a new joint and want a surgeon who has done thousands of them tend to land with him.

Dr. Reed Bartz, M.D.

Steadman Hawkins fellowship · Former Asst. Professor, Univ. of Colorado

Sports injuries & arthroscopy

Dr. Reed Bartz, M.D. is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon who completed his training at the Steadman Hawkins Clinic in Vail, Colorado, one of the most competitive programs in the country. He previously served as an Assistant Professor at the University of Colorado and has authored more than 15 peer-reviewed publications. His clinical work concentrates on sports injuries, ACL reconstruction, rotator cuff repair, and knee arthroscopy.

Either physician can evaluate a new problem. If your issue clearly falls into one of their focus areas, our schedulers will route you to the right one when you call.

Outpatient Joint Replacement Without the Drive to Dallas

Patients across Ellis County can have joint replacement evaluated and planned locally instead of making repeated trips north. That matters because a new joint is not one appointment. It is a consultation, imaging review, pre-operative visit, surgery, and several follow-ups, and those drives add up quickly for a patient who cannot yet bend the joint comfortably.

Dr. John Hibbitts performs outpatient total knee replacement, meaning eligible patients go home the same day rather than staying overnight. Our practice reports that more than 90 percent of these patients achieve complete elimination of their pain and a return to full function. Not everyone is a candidate, and that determination comes out of your evaluation, your imaging, and your overall health picture rather than a phone conversation.

If you have been putting off seeing a knee doctor because of the travel involved, seeing an orthopedic surgeon closer to home is the part that changes.
